I HATE SUNDAYS!!

No hate isnt a strong enough word for the way i feel about Sundays, its been a long time since i got a late sunday lay in.  The kids start to get cabin fever and withdrawal symptoms from school, they dont want to go out and play with friends they just want to watch Disney Junior ALL DAY!

I washed up.  I made lasagne for lunch/dinner (we snack most of the day and just have one meal).  I tidied the lliving room  and part of the kitchen.  I even bleached the bathroom while the kids were in the bath! I did wait for them to finish before I did the actual bath lol.

Productive day for some especially with 3 kids running round bored and OH in kitchen dismantling one of the children's bikes. I just think Monday can't get here quick enough!

Home-made Christmas Part 1

I've been a busy little mummy lately making decorations for Christmas, I have decided that this year we will be having a home-made Christmas.

So last week I made a start with some fab (if I do say so myself) stars and a snowman.

Friday night I threaded them together with crochet cotton.  The snowman ground to a halt for a few days as I couldn't find any suitable buttons in my stash.

Off to Sew Simple, Me and Grandma D went, and £40 later I came away with 6 button and a whole lot more I didn't plan to buy.

I made a tree skirt which compared to Grandma D's is amateur to say the least.

This is mine and

  this is Grandma D's

I also cut lots and lots of bunting triangles which will mean a long week with my sewing machine.

We will see how they come together later in another post.  I am back off to Sew Simple on the 20th, they are having a double points event and I get paid the day before (whoop! whoop!).

Watch this space for pics of what I bought, I can't wait to buy it !

Day 3 of my blog and Day 10 smoke free!

I am very proud of myself for getting to today, if you had seen me Friday I was hyper and anxious and antsy, the complete opposite to how I am feeling today.

I wouldn't say today was a calm day, on the contrary I am a wreck!

We have the dentist after school and I hate the dentist ever since I was a teenager and the numbing stuff didn't take effect before he started to drill.  It made me jump, made me scream and emptied half the waiting room!  But that is this afternoon, this morning is the start of washday, every Thursday is washday.  I try to get through the mountain of clothes that have accumulated on my kitchen floor, sometimes I am almost successful, then I go upstairs and find out the kids haven't been putting their dirties in the basket.

I have set the timer on my phone for the same time as the washing machine says it will take, the tumble dryer takes slightly longer and is about half the size, so I usually end up with baskets of wet washing waiting to go in.

In the hour or so between emptying the machines and refilling them, I am going to try and tackle the mess in the kitchen..  The unclean, very cluttered, a fire would make it look better mess to tackle in the kitchen.

I am debating the before photos, I'm ashamed to say the least, so if you scroll down and just see some lovely after pics then forgive me.

My rundown for today

  1. First thing that I need to do is re-stack my material pile.  This is the kittens favourite place to sleep, after the bag of winter woollies in the coat cupboard and my keyboard while I type.
  2. Follow Nony the Slob from A Slob Comes Clean's Kitchen Cleaning Checklist.
  3. I will NOT get distracted by YouTube or Facebook or solitaire, and I will ALLOW myself 1 cup of tea every hour - no 5 minute breaks every 10 minutes.

LATER
OK, so that was written first thing this morning, its now just after 11am and I have done none of what I was aiming to do.  Washing machine has only just been put on for the first time but I have an excuse!  LJ had a school assembly today - which was sprung on me when I took TJ in this morning.  So 10am I was at the school, before that B had been round to have a coffee and that meant I had to entertain (make drinks and consider sharing chocolate bars with the little ones).  Now for the excuse of all excuses!!  My nan just turned up and again I have to entertain, I couldn't possibly make her look after NJ while I tidy the kitchen (wink wink nudge nudge).

EVEN LATER
Procrastination won, no tidy kitchen or bleached surfaces, no swept floor but we do have clean clothes and dishes!

November 13th

Today will be Oh So interesting (well not really) ...

My plans for today? I hear you ask

  1. Trying to get an appointment at the vets so the kittens can be done, cleaning cat spray from the kitchen,
  2. Buying onesies for Fridays pyjama day at school for children in need and
  3. Looking after the youngest (NJ).

Smoking
Giving up smoking, day 9, patch on and fake fag in mouth (don't worry I have seen the smoking nurse and she prescribed both).

Blogs
I love reading a blog called "A Slob Comes Clean" and Nony  has been the inspiration for a lot of how I am adjusting my cleaning routine, I may just link to her from time to time and NO i am not being paid for it i just love what she says and does and at the moment we have baited breath wondering who her visitor 'Paula' is.

Yesterday thanks to Pinterest I found a brilliant new blog called 'The Nest'.  Its by a blogger named Emily who lives in Ireland, she crafts, paints, bakes and just reading her advent posts I think I have fallen in love with her.

Kids

LJ at school, TJ at school and NJ round my feet for most of today, the joys of motherhood are abundant in this house!
LJ and TJ are needing outfits for Fridays Children In Need Pyjama Day, one whole round pound each to wear pyjamas to school, I shouldn't bother buying new, just don't get them dressed in the morning, in reality I don't think the school will think that so shrewd. .I took my friend B along as her daughter M is in TJ's class.

Me, B and NJ  all hoped in the car and off we went on our merry way, to the insane asylum which is Asda.

We had a great time and came away with more than 2 onesies, we had such a good time we nearly got back late to pick the kids up from school! But don't they look good in them ...

Cleaning
I have the unenviable job of cleaning the kitchen, as long as hubby dearest does the washing up we may both be happy.  The boy kitten is spraying and trying to (as LJ puts it) "do" the girl kitten.

I just realised I never introduced them to you... well here they are

I tried to crop out the mess but blogger wouldn't see the edited picture

The one on the left with with all black face and white whiskers is Dinotime (named by TJ), Dino for short, and the black and white faced kitten is Soxey (named by LJ).  They are the newest members of our family at just over 4 months old.

OH didn't wash up, so I had to :( .  And now Grandma D is here and we are delousing our hair AGAIN!  I have spent so much money on shop bought, branded products to help clear them that i have decided on a healthier more environmentally friendly alternative which I found in this book.

The ingredients are 75ml vegetable oil (normal cooking veg oil will do) and 25 drops each Rosemary, Lavender and Tea Tree or eucalyptus essential oils

The method is
  • 1) Apply to wet hair (whoops we just slopped it onto dry hair), massage well to get to the scalp so you cover the roots well.  Make sure you pay attention to the ear and nape of neck areas, this is where they like to breed.
  • 2) Leave for roughly an hour.
  • 3) Shampoo thoroughly.
  • 4) Remove the eggs (nits) with a fine-toothed regulation nit comb.  I like the NitFree from Nitty Gritty- the best thing about these combs (other than being utterly fantastic egg and lice removers) is that they come with a lifetime guarantee so should the worst happen and they get broken or a tooth falls out,you just return it to them in an envelope with you address and they send you a new one by return post!  No I have not been paid for either of these reviews (lol I wish I was).

Tomorrow is Thursday which means clothes and bedding need washing.  Hopefully, I will be able to run the washing machine and tumble dryer all day.  Oh yeah, and we all have the dentist after school.
